About the Out of the Blue Band
The Out of the Blue Band was formed in the spring of 2011 when Johnnie Bradshaw, who had retired his long running country band “The Bradshaw Gang” just a few months earlier, decided to join with one of his partners at the Stars Over Texas Jamboree in Waco, Texas and persuaded some former band mates to join in.
Besides forming Out of the Blue, other musical projects Johnnie has been involved in included:
*Founding the Music Association of Central Texas.
*Hosting “The Texas Barn Dance”, a weekly country radio show that aired on 94.5 FM in Waco for eight years.
*Singing and promoting the nationally recognized song “So Long Texas-Hello Mexico” as Johnny Tex and the Texicans.
Johnnie Bradshaw and Out of the Blue have played at the some of the top clubs in the area, including the Cotton Club in Granger, Hoot’s in Burleson, and the band has opened for stars such as John Conlee at the Melody Ranch in Waco.
Out of the Blue was honored to be selected for the STEP annual showcase in March of 2016 at Billy Bob’s Club 81 in Fort Worth, Texas. Out of the Blue performed in 2016 at the Peanut Festival in Grapeland and for three years at the Freestone County Fair and Rodeo in Fairfield, Texas.
Johnnie is known for his tributes to Jim Reeves, and also for his renditions of songs from other country legends such as Hank Thompson, Ernest Tubb, Charlie Pride, Merle Haggard and others.
The Out of the Blue song list always includes music from Dale Watson, Josh Turner, Trace Adkins and George Strait. As a four or five piece band Out of the Blue includes other singers who can dish out some Ronnie Millsap, Gary Stewart, Ray Price and John Conlee. A little bit of old time rock and roll is also included when the mood is right.
